Usually when male Scarlet Tanagers are spotted, it causes quite a bit of excitement among bird watchers because of the beautiful red or scarlet of the male with jet-black wings and tail. The song almost sounds like a Robin but a little more hoarse. Look for this bird in the upper one-third canopy of tall trees during migration.
